Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday, January 18 announced Punjab AAP president and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann as the chief minister face for the upcoming assembly polls 2022.


Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal announced the CM face at a party function in Mohali. The official handle of the party also shared a hilarious video on Twitter and announced Bhagwant Mann as the chief ministerial candidate.

The shared clip is from Sajid Khan’s film Heyy Babyy starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Riteish Deshmukh, and Fardeen Khan in lead roles. The morphed track is Mast Kalandar and shows Vidya Balan as Punjab’s CM chair and Shah Rukh Khan as Bhagwant Mann. It also shows Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu, CM Charanjit Singh Channi, AAP Arvind Kejriwal, and Rahul Gandhi trying to win the CM’s chair.

Born in October 1973, Bhagwant Mann has acted in the National Award-winning films Main Maa Punjab Dee and Jugnu Hazir Hai. He had also appeared in TV shows like Jugnu Kehnda Hai, Jugnu Mast Mast, and No Life With Wife.

Mann joined the People’s Party of Punjab in early 2011 and contested elections in the Lehra constituency in 2012. He later joined the Aam Aadmi Party in March 2014 to contest elections in the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency. He fell into controversy ahead of the 2017 Punjab elections due to his alleged alcohol problems.

The Punjab Assembly Elections 2022 are slated to be contested on February 20 and will elect 117 members of the 16th Assembly of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. The results will be declared on March 10 as announced by the Election Commission of India.

Meanwhile, The Enforcement Directorate has raided Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s nephew and several others in an illegal sand mining case ahead of state elections.
