AIADMK chief E Palaniswami sacks Panrutty Ramachandran

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) interim general secretary E Palaniswami (EPS) today sacked its senior leader Panrutty S Ramachandran for allegedly being involved in anti-party activities.

E Palaniswami informed that he has been removed from the post of Organisation Secretary as well as primary membership. He said that he went against the party’s principles and rules.

Earlier, E Palaniswami’s rival O Paneerselvam (OPS) appointed Ramachandran as the party’s political advisor. However, EPS is the top leader of the party after a Madras High Court order on the party leadership dispute.

On July 11, EPS was appointed as the interim general secretary in a special General Council meeting. Reports said that over 2100 members voted in the favour of EPS and also passed a resolution to remove OPS and his supporters from the party.

On September 20, EPS met Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah in his office. Taking a dig at EPS meeting with Amit Shah, a Twitter user wrote that the meeting would not help in maintaining the identity of AIADMK.

Another user wrote that EPS should go to Delhi to ask his advice and to make complaints about crimes. He has destroyed the uniqueness of AIADMK. Everything was mortgaged.

On September 27, the Crime Branch of the Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID) recovered 113 documents and valuables from a OPS’s supporter. A case was registered against the OPS function for storming the AIADMK headquarters and stealing valuables. The officials said that all the items were stolen from the party’s headquarters during the clash on July 11.
