Allahabad University clash: Locked gate of student union building reason for ruckus, FIR names 40 people, including guards
The Allahabad University campus kept burning for two almost hours in the fire of rage that erupted after the students were beaten up by security guards. Pushing the police, the mob of furious students pelted bricks and stones on different buildings as well as the offices. Along with the glasses of doors and windows, pots, furniture was also broken. After this an arson started.
Allahabad University is once again in news. Along with the student union election and fee hike, the main reason for the ruckus here was the lock on the gate of the student union building. The students here have been demanding to open this gate for a long time, but the Allahabad University administration is not ready to open this gate.

At around 3:30 pm, a scuffle broke between the student leader Vivekanand Pathak at the Union Hall. It is alleged that after 5 to 10 minutes, the security guards, armed with batons, iron rods and weapons attacked the students. There was an outcry, hearing which, the students standing outside the Union Hall gate came running inside. Meanwhile, on receiving information, a large number of students gathered there in no time and then chased away the guards. By then the Colonelganj police had reached the spot.

Lock at student union building
The State Bank is also next to the Student Union building and on Sunday, the lock on the gate became the reason for the ruckus. Vivekananda Pathak, former student leader of the university and state secretary of Congress, was going to deposit KYC in the bank, when the guards present at the gate stopped his car.
After this the dispute escalated and there was fighting and firing. Students carried out incidents like vandalism and arson inside the university. Late night FIR has been lodged against 40 security personnel.
Priyanka Gandhi attacks BJP government
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has lashed out at the BJP government after the ruckus in Allahabad University. She posted on Facebook that the violent and brutal attack by the administration on the students of Allahabad University is highly condemnable. In this barbaric act, former student leader and our General Secretary Vivekanand Pathak was brutally attacked by the armed guards of the University in a well-planned manner. The anti-youth BJP government first increased the fees, and when the students protested, an undeclared emergency was posed on the university premises. The Congress demands that the fee hike should be withdrawn immediately, and the demand of the students should be accepted, she wrote.
FIR on 40 people including security personnel
After the students’ agitation, the police have registered a case against 40 unidentified people including security personnel Tarachandra Pandey, Prabhakar, MK Pandey. The District Magistrate has assured the students that he will get the matter investigated impartially and action will be taken against the culprits.
After this the students calmed down. Today on Tuesday, the university has been closed by the Allahabad University administration. But the students will gather at the Students’ Union building today. Student leader Ajay Yadav Samrat said that the university administration wants to suppress the voice of the students. Firing was done at the behest of the university administration, what could happen next is worrisome, he added.
