Andaz Apna Apna actor Javed Khan Amrohi dies at 73
Veteran Bollywood actor Javed Khan Amrohi, known for his popular roles in Andaz Apna Apna and Lagaan, died today at the age of 73. According to the reports, the actor was bedridden for a year. He was rushed to the hospital after he complained of breathlessness where he breathed his last.
Javed Khan Amrohi was admitted to Surya Nursing Home, Santacruz. Reportedly, he was suffering from breathing problems when he was shifted to the hospital, where doctors stated that both of his lungs had failed.
The supurde-e-khak ceremony will be performed at the Oshiwara cemetery at 6:30 pm today.
Javed Khan has acted in about 150 Hindi films. The actor has gained immense prominence for his work in many films, such as Ishq, Hum Hai Raahi Pyaar Ke, Chak De India, Phir Hera Pheri 2, Coolie No. 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and many others. He was last seen in Sanjay Dutt’s film Sadak 2 as Pakya, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur.
He has also worked in TV series like Mirza Ghalib, directed by Gulzar, and as Karim (the barber) in Nukkad, directed by Saeed Akhtar Mirza in the 1980s. Javed Khan Amrohi was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in the 2001 film Lagaan.
He was also a member of the acting faculty at ZIMA, the Zee Institute of Media Arts in Mumbai, of Zee TV.
