Delhi Police on Thursday arrested 8 workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party who allegedly vandalized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Wednesday. Raids are being carried out by six teams of police. According to the report, the police are looking out for some more people.

What happened during the protest?

Around 1 pm, a few protestors broke two barricades outside the CM’s residence, causing a ruckus and yelling slogans, which were captured on camera and went viral on social media. According to the reports, CCTV cameras outside CM’s house were reportedly destroyed, and the security barrier around CM’s residence was broken.

AAP leaders accuse BJP of attempting to kill Kejriwal

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia accused the BJP government of making a conspiracy to get Arvind Kejriwal killed. Another AAP leader, Saurabh Bharadwaj, also claimed that the BJP is trying to assassinate CM Kejriwal.

What was the reason for the protest?

It was around 11:30 am when over 200 BJP workers protested outside Arvind Kejriwal’s house on Link Road near IP College. The reason for the protest was the controversial remarks on the recently released film The Kashmir Files. Speaking in the Delhi Assembly on March 24, Kejriwal allegedly termed the massacre of Kashmiri Pandits as false. Kejriwal also claimed while several BJP governments are promoting the film and making it tax-free, the filmmakers are making millions from it.

Delhi Police remarks on this matter

On Wednesday evening, Delhi Police released a statement on Twitter stating that necessary legal action is being taken in connection with BJP workers vandalizing Delhi CM Kejriwal’s residence. Talking about the protest, Delhi Police said, the police had already put up barricades as a precaution and they have also used water cannons to prevent the protesters from moving forward.
