The two UP electricity department officials – a Junior Engineer and a Lineman – went to the residence of Ankur Verma, a local BJP leader and a businessman in Nagara area of Ballia district.
Taking cognizance of the incident, the District Magistrate has ordered the cancellation of his gun license after the JE filed a complaint against the accused in the police station.
The JE has been identified as Tarkeshwar Yadav while Lineman’s name was revealed as Amrendra Babu.
Reports said the JE along with Lineman reached to the consumer’s resident for disconnecting the power supply over non-payment of the electricity bills.
Ballia police said that necessary actions are being taken and a case has been registered at the local police station under relevant sections.
Verma has not paid electricity dues of Rs 20,000. When the JE, posted at Nagara sub-centre, along with his lineman, reached the consumer’s residence and asked him to clear the dues or else his connection would be disconnected, the latter pointed a gun at them.
