Bank holidays January 2023: Banks to remain shut for 14 days, check the state-wise list here

With 2022 coming to an end, the Reserve Bank of India released a list of holidays for the first month of 2023, January. If you have important bank-related work or appointments to make, it is advisable to check the full list of holidays before your bank visit.

In January, festivals like Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, Makar Sankranti, and others are celebrated. According to the bank holidays list released by RBI, banks will remain shut for 14 days across various states in India in January.

The RBI categorises holidays into three categories-Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday, Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

Apart from the festivals, banks will also remain shut on Sundays and the second Saturday in January.

Though a physical bank visit won’t be possible on the days banks would be closed, however, if you have any urgency, you can always use banks’ online services.
