Bankey Bihari temple corridor: Market shut for two days, protestors send letters in blood to PM Modi, UP CM Adityanath
Locals continue to protest against the Uttar Pradesh government’s proposal for the Bankey Bihari temple Corridor in Vrindavan. Priests and shopkeepers have sent letters written in blood to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state chief minister Yogi Adityanath demanding not to allow the construction of temple corridor.
Traders in protest shut their shops for two days. The protesters stated that the proposed development is uncalled for and it would rob them of ancestral homes and affect their livelihoods. According to the reports, the state government will acquire five acres of land around the temple. Around 300 shops and houses will be demolished as per the proposed Bankey Bihari temple corridor.
Bankey Bihari market association president Amit Gautam stated that the construction of the corridor will also affect the heritage of the city. He confirmed that the traders have written letters using their blood as ink to the Prime Minister and chief minister demanding to shelve this plan which is being made on the lines of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Corridor

Lok Sabha MP from Mathura, BJP’s Hema Malini, had on Sunday said that the corridor will open the gates for international tourism, facilitating pilgrims to pay their obeisance to the deity without hassle.
Acknowledging the concerns of traders, priests, and residents, she assured them that all stakeholders’ interests would be taken into account. The actor-politician stated that neither the ancient culture nor the natural beauty of Vrindavan will suffer.
The Allahabad High Court on December 25, 2022, ordered a survey for the corridor and directed the Uttar Pradesh government to present its survey report before the High Court with estimated costs on January 17, 2023.
