Banks will be closed for 4 days in the upcoming week
Those who have procrastinated their bank-related work for the upcoming week then you must go through the bank holidays to avoid any inconvenience. Apart from the weekend, banks will be closed for two more days this week. One will be on the occasion of Seng Kut Snem and the other on the occasion of Lachit Divas, and Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji’s Martyrdom day.
However, banks will not be closed all over the country due to these festivals. Seng Kut Snem is a regional festival of Meghalaya, so banks will only be closed in that state. It will be celebrated on November 23.
Lachit Divas is celebrated in Assam to commemorate the heroism of Lachit Borphukan and the victory of the Assamese army at the Battle of Saraighat. The bank will only be closed in that state. The day is being observed on November 24.
Apart from Lachit Divas, November 24 marks a number of festivals. Banks in Punjab will be closed on November 24 due to the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Banks will also be closed in Odisha and Telangana on this day because of Karthika Purnima.
As this will be the fourth week, the banks will be closed all over the country on November 26 and November 27 because of Saturday and Sunday.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases a list of bank holidays every year. The RBI divides holidays into three categories-Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays, Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
