Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday. Bommai is experiencing mild symptoms and is under home isolation.
Sharing the test results on Twitter, Bommai wrote that he has tested positive for Covid-19 with mild symptoms and has isolated himself at home. He also urged people who had come into contact with him in the last few days to get themselves tested for the novel coronavirus. He has also cancelled his trip to New Delhi.
Bommai was scheduled to visit New Delhi today for two days to take part in Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and NITI Aayog meetings. Along with this, he was supposed to meet BJP’s central leaders to discuss recent political developments.
This is the second time Basavaraj Bommai has been tested for Covid-19. Earlier, he tested positive in January this year.
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 cases in Karnataka are rising at a rapid rate. The state recorded 2,042 new Covid-19 cases and two fatalities on Friday. According to the reports, the active cases in the state stand at 11,403. The daily positivity rate in the state stands at 6.32 percent.
