The video triggered social media outrage wherein users slammed the organiser and people present at the Ganpati puja for enjoying the obscene performance during the puja. Some also highlighted the spike in rape cases in India and held events and people as such responsible for the crime.

Bollywood actor Siddhant Chaturvedi also triggered social media bashing after a video of him grooving to the popular Bhojpuri song Lollipop Lagelu during Ganpati puja surfaced on the internet. Users slammed the actor for dancing to a Bhojpuri song rather than to a devotional song.

In another incident, Nitesh Rane, a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, slammed devotees who could be seen ‘dumping’ Ganesha idols in water and not using Conveyor belt technology.

The conveyer belt technology for Ganpati Visarjan, initiated by Congress leader Satej D Patil, took social media by storm this year.
