Cadbury Bournvita has remained a grocery staple in every household. But it is good for kids’ health? The question popped up in everyone’s mind who watched the viral video by social media influencer Revant Himatsingha who criticised the health drink.

In the video, Himatsingha slammed the brand for miscommunication about the product’s nutritional value and argued if the government should allow companies to blatantly lie about their package. He said parents are getting their children addicted to sugar at a young age and the children end up craving sugar throughout their lives.

Bournvita releases official clarification

Soon after the video came to light, Cadbury Bournvita issued a legal notice to the influencer and released an official statement of clarification. In the statement, Cadbury said Bournvita contains nutrients like Vitamins A, C, and D, Iron, Zinc, Copper, and Selenium that build immunity and these nutrients have been part of the formulation for several years.

It also said the health drink is a scientifically designed formula made with ingredients that are approved for use and all the ingredients are mentioned on the pack.

Influencer deletes viral video after legal notice

Following the outrage on social media, Himatsingka apologised to Bournvita and issued a statement on Instagram. He said he received a legal notice from one of India’s biggest law firms on April 13 and has decided to take down his video on Bournvita. He clarifies he had no intention to infringe any trademark or defame any company nor do he have the interest or resources to participate in any court cases. He also requested MNCs to not take the matter forward legally.

Social media slammed Bournvita for suing the influencer for busting them.
