Chinese spy balloon spotted hovering over US,  Diplomat Antony Blinken cancels Beijing tour

Tension has increased between the two countries after China’s spy balloons, as big as 3 buses, appeared in America, Canada and Latin America. The Pentagon says that another Chinese balloon is passing through Latin America. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who termed it a violation of international law, has also cancelled his visit to China. Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Yi has spoken on the phone with the US Secretary of State.

Blinken has said that such an act cannot be tolerated and this has been clearly explained to China. America claims that the balloon shown above the nuclear launch site is from China and it was being used to gather intelligence.

Antony Blinken’s visit to China cancelled

America has not liked China’s clarification regarding the balloon. America is calling it a Spy Balloon and that is why Foreign Minister Antony Blinken has postponed his visit to China. According to China’s Foreign Ministry, it was a civil use balloon, which is used for weather-related research, and it lost its direction and reached American airspace. China has also expressed regret for this.

What did America say?

Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Patrick S Ryder told the media on Thursday that a spy balloon was detected and was being monitored. It is still flying in US airspace. It was seen in Montana. NORAD i.e. North American Aerospace Defence Command is keeping a close watch on it. The government has taken immediate action to protect sensitive information.

Will the tension between China and America increase?

Even as China has given clarification, but the whole world knows the stark difference between what China says and does. It will be difficult for the US to trust China’s words. Relations between the US and China are already strained. At present, due to the cancellation of Blinken’s tour, it is clear that the bitterness between the two countries can increase further.
