Big jump in Covid-19 cases in India in last 24 hours, with 35.22 percent more infections reported than yesterday
The Covid-19 cases in India are on the rise once again. India reported 3,712 fresh Covid-19 infections and 5 fatalities in the last 24 hours. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India saw a big jump in Covid-19 infections since yesterday. On Thursday, the country logged a 35.22 percent jump in daily Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
The Health Ministry in a bulletin said that the daily Covid-19 positivity rate has also increased to 0.84 percent from 0.60 percent on Wednesday. The weekly positivity rate now stands at 0.67 percent. The fatality rate was recorded at 1.22 percent.
According to the reports, the active Covid-19 cases in the country have climbed to 19,509 after an increase of 1,123 cases, in the last 24 hours. The active cases comprise of 0.04 percent of the total infections and the recovery rate stands at 98.74 percent.

Which cities are witnessing a spike in Covid-19 cases?
A spike was also recorded in the Chandigarh tricity, with data showing a 168 percent increase in infection between April and May. With 379 cases, Chandigarh is the worst affected of the three jurisdictions, followed by Mohali with 241 and Panchkula with 163.
On Wednesday, 739 cases were registered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, the largest single-day increase in cases in 116 days. The positivity rate is highest since February, at 8.4 percent.
Speaking at an event, Rajesh Tope, Maharashtra’s health minister stated that coronavirus cases had been on the rise in Mumbai, Pune, and Thane. There are 3,475 cases (in Mumbai, Pune, and Thane), he claimed, with 2,500 cases coming from Mumbai alone.
