Dasvi trailer out
The trailer introduces Abhishek Bachchan as a corrupt Jatt politician Ganga Ram Chaudhary, who drops out of school after 8th grade to start his venture in politics. He is sent to judicial custody where he has to deal with a tough IPS officer Jyoti Deswal, played by Yami Gautam. Chaudhary then wants to fulfil his dream to pass 10th grade. While he struggles with his syllabus and is lost among alphabets, his wife Bimla Devi, played by Nimrat Kaur, gets the taste of the chief minister’s kursi and want to cling to the position.
Deja vu? Yes, the sub-plot of Dasvi is inspired by Huma Qureshi’s web series Maharani that came out in 2021 on Sony Liv. Directed by Karan Sharma, Maharani revolves around a homemaker and the wife of Bihar’s CM who later gets appointed as the chief minister of the state after her husband resigns.
Coming back to Dasvi, going by the trailer, the film is a social comedy that throws light on the idea of politics and education in India.
