Delhi woman wanted to work, had head smashed with brick by upset father-in-law | WATCH

In a shocking incident highlighting the toxic patriarchal mindset still prevalent among the Indian society, even in metropolitan city like Delhi, a woman living in national capital’s Prem Nagar area, who wanted to work and support her family, had her skull cracked open with a brick by her irate father-in-law.

A video of the incident, caught on security camera, which has gone viral on social media, shows the man hitting the victim, 26-year-old Kajal, repeatedly with a brick, as she covers up to soften the blows but the man doesn’t relent and continues the assault.

Kajal tries to run away but is pursued by her father-in-law with a brick in hand who continues to land blow after blow on her in a lane in Prem Nagar area of Delhi. She was reportedly going for a job interview when her father-in-law confronted her and started the assault, reports said.

A senior police official said that Kajal wanted to work and support her husband Praveen Kumar, angering her father-in-law who assaulted her on Tuesday while she was on her way to a job interview.

According to reports, Kajal got into an argument with her father-in-law over her decision to pursue a job to support her husband, who works in Civil Defense Service. The man objected her daughter-in-law’s choice and confronted her in a lane while she was going for a job interview.

The woman received grievous injuries, especially on her head, due to the assault and was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital by her husband Praveen Kumar where she received 17 stitches for her head injury.

According to a police statement, the woman’s parents who live in Faridabad filed a complaint against her father-in-law based on which a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), was registered against the man, adding that further investigation is underway.
