The electric scooter that was burning on the main road in front of the Civitech Stadium belonged to Chandra Prakash. The cause of the fire is yet to be known. The police are investigating the matter.

Earlier, an electric bike caught fire in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district while it was left on charge. The man left his bike on charge when the smoke started emanating from the bike. People splashed water on the bike in an effort to douse the flames. However, the e-heat bike was so intense that it cracked the clay tiles underneath it and a section of the wall was also damaged.

The EV industry has recently faced harsh criticism regarding the issue related to vehicle safety after several cases of two-wheelers catching fire were reported in the country. After recognizing the extent of the problem, a high-level expert committee was constituted by the Government of India to investigate the problem.
