The Selecao’s have been considered the potential winning team in the FIFA 2022 World Cup and has considerably performed that way as well. The Thiago Silva-led Brazil will be staking claims for the trophy the team has been dominating throughout the campaign. However, many reports have surfaced that have highlighted the gaps in the Brazilian team.
Croatia on the other hand, hasn’t necessarily been the favorite team in the tournament, however, the World Cup being the last for Real Madrid’s midfielder and Ballon D’or winner has still garnered a lot of support from the fans. The Croatian team, in the round of 16, beat the Japanese side in a shocking win. Japan, who were considered to be the better of the 2 sides, failed to translate the in game confidence when the match moved to Penalty stages.
The Brazilian team’s challenge against Croatia will be to contain the Croatian midfield which is the engine of the team. Croatian midfield consisting of star players like Peresic, Modric, Kovacic, and Pasalic can be enough to make a dent in Brazil. The Brazilian team’s other challenge for the match will be avoiding injuries, especially Neymar’s.
Neymar, who was rulled out of 2 games in the group stages after facing an horrific ankle injury against Camroon returned against Soth Korea and found himself on the scoresheet. Neymar’s presence for the Brazilian team is the key to unlock the door for World Cup Trophy. However, due to him already being vulnerable to injury, the challenge for Brazil will be to keep him injury free in order to win the World Cup. Neymar’s absence is a void for the Selcao’s that can’t be filled with any other player, specially for Brazil who lack the appropriate depth on the bench.
