The FIFA 2022 escalates further into the quarterfinals, the first match of the quarterfinal saw Brazil match up with Croatia battling it out to advance into the semi-finals. Croatia turned out to be the better team out of the two, as the enthralling and dramatic match moved into penalties where the Croatian team rose to the occasion and beat Brazil 3-1 in penalties.

Thiago Silva-led Brazil, contrary to what many expected, failed to be the dominating team as the initial match continued to be a stalemate in the conventional 90-minute game. The Selcao’s, despite failing to find any end product against Modric and company during the whole 90 minutes continued to ask questions.

The Neymar-led attack became daunting at times, however, the Croatian defence stuck to their guns and avoided conceding. The Croatian keeper became the wall that the Brazilian side failed to break past in regular 90 minute time.

One the other hand, the Croatian attack led by Peresic came also came alive on numerous occasions especially when it mattered the most. The Brazilian side, drew first blood as Neymar inspired an attack that resulted in breaking the deadlock in 105th minute of the game. However, Croatia refused to give in to the scoreline and the clock as they made one of the most dramatic comeback with the help of Bruno Petkovic in the 117th minute, forcing Brazil into Penalties.

The Croatian super-sub Bruno Petkovic became a big upset for Tite’s Brazil as the sure-shot match-winning goal by Neymar couldn’t hold ground for long. The equalizer by Croatia became the start of the heartbreak for Brazil’s World Cup campaign.

The Brazilian side, after letting the game slip away from them, failed to rise to the big occasion as in the match-deciding penalties. Brazil’s Rodrigo and Marquinhos failed to find the net in the penalties, whereas Croatian penalty-takers were up for the task and converted all three penalties.

Croatia proved to be the better side as they advances into the semi-finals and will be expected to face the winner in the Netherlands clash with Argentina which scheduled for December 10 at 12:30 am for the Indian fans.
