Centre government announces free Covid booster doses for all adults
In order to improve the coronavirus situation in the country, the central government on Wednesday announced that all adults will be given free Covid-19 booster doses from July 15 till the next 75 days.
While confirming the news, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday said it will celebrate 75 years of independence on August 15, to make the occasion more special, central government decided to give free covid booster shots in the country. He said people that fall under the age criteria can get free Covid booster shots from any government hospital.
The decision comes days after when the country is witnessing a sudden surge in coronavirus cases in the past few weeks.
The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry also released an official statement under which it said the government is committed to boosting the pace and expanding the scope of Covid-19 vaccination in the country.
Meanwhile, India’s Covid tally has been increasing by passing each day. The health ministry on Wednesday reported that the country has witnessed a jump in the cases by 24% in the last 24 hours. It also has been reported that the country has seen over 16,900 new cases on July 13.
With the fresh 45 covid-related death, the country’s total death tally reached 5,25,519 on Wednesday. Experts said that if things will go like this where people are not following covid norms, India might witness another wave of Covid in upcoming months.
