Government facilities in Delhi out of free Covid booster, says CoWIN app
Reports have emerged from Delhi that free Covid booster vaccines are unavailable in the Government Centres whereas the paid booster vaccines are available in private hospitals. The unavailability of free booster vaccines in Delhi comes in the wake of Government issued protocol to practice Covid precautionary measures that include taking booster vaccines.
The booster doses at private institutions are priced at 386.25 Rs and are reportedly available for the next few days, however it is also reported that even the private paid booster vaccines are large in numbers.

It is to be noted that booster doses were made free for people who were 60 in the Delhi Government facilities.
The precautionary measures were advised by the Government and the health ministry in light of the Covid surge in China. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also recently held a mock drill on Tuesday across the country in the Government hospitals and institutions to assess and examine how prepared the health infrastructure is to tackle Covid situation if time comes.
According to reports, the searches on the CoWIN portal showed that there was no availability of the Covid booster jab in North and North East Delhi. However, there was scarce availability of booster shots available in Central Delhi private hospitals and even the East and South Delhi region had some slots for booster shots but all of them were in private hospitals.
According to reports, the LNJP hospital in Delhi also showed unavailability of Covid booster dose.
Percentage of people who took the booster doses stands at 30 per cent in India, however, more than 90 percent of people have administered both the covid doses according to reports. The Government of India has been actively urging the people to take precautionary measures and have also instructed all the states to be vigil and track down cases by doing genome sequencing.
The caseload in the last one week in the country stood at an average of 200 cases, however, the Government has been raising alarm due to China’s deteriorating situation in the country.
