Hyderabad: 1 dead, 9 others injured in LPG cylinder blast

At least one person died and nine others were injured after an LPG cylinder exploded in a house in the Chikalguda area of Telangana’s Hyderabad. The house where the blast occurred was situated in the Mettugada Division, Dood Bavi area.

The Chilakalaguda Police reached the spot as soon as they received information about the incident. The police shifted the injured to the Gandhi Hospital.

According to the reports, a portion of the house collapsed due to the LPG cylinder explosion. During this incident, nearby residential structures were also damaged.

The police suspect gas leakage from the cylinder was a cause of the mishap. Naresh, SHO, Chilkalguda Police Station said the case has been registered and the investigation is underway.

Earlier, a 30-year-old woman sustained burn injuries on her hands and legs after gas from an LPG cylinder leaked and exploded in her kitchen in the Narhe Gaon area of Pune. The incident happened at around 3 am when she was sleeping alone on the first floor of the house.

Firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the fire in 15 minutes. The fire department said the explosion was caused because the gas regulator was incorrectly fitted, which led to the gas leakage.

In a similar incident, six people, including four members of a family, were injured critically after a huge explosion at a house in Nakhrola village in Gurugram. Investigation revealed that the blast took place because of the firecrackers kept in a room with a leaking gas cylinder.
