IND vs ENG: India seals day one on 338 after Losing 7 wickets
What a thrilling first day match it has been for India. As expected, the England bowling attack was attacking and ruthless, but it’s the vice-captain of India, Rishabh Pant who turned the table.
After winning the toss, England elected to bowl first and England captain Ben Stokes used the right bowling combinations to get early wickets. Seemed like England’s plan literally came to life when former Indian captain Virat Kohli was dismissed at 11 runs.
But that’s Rishabh Pant decided to play the game his way. Those who follow Rishabh Pant, must be knowing that he’s credited as the most entertaining player in the world. Reason being where most of the experienced players like to take their inning slow in Test cricket, Rishabh Pant does the same what he would do in the shorted format.
And today as well the cricketer was in the attacking mode when he single handedly tested the patience of England bowlers. Joining him came Ravindra Jadeja whop was given preference over the best spinner in the world, Ravichandran Ashwin. And the all-rounder did not disappoint his coach, Rahul Dravid.
Both Jadeja and Pant made brilliant partnership and gave India the much-needed stability in the decider game. Vice-captain Rishabh Pant got out at 146 off 111 balls, falling short of four runs to register another record. On the other hand, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ended the third session of the first day at 88 not-out.
India will begin the second day Test on 338 for 7 wickets, with Jadeja and Mohammed Shami on crease. Both the cricketers can bring serious damage to England incase they don’t get early wickets in the first session of the second day.
The IND vs ENG second day test will begin today at 3 pm from Birmingham’s Edgbaston. Audience can watch the match at Sony Sports network and the digital broadcast will be available on Sony Liv app.
