IND vs NZ ODI: Black caps defeat India by 7 wickets, Tom Latham’s century overshadows Umran-Arshdeep’s ODI debut

Host New Zealand has defeated Team India in the first game of 3-match ODI series by seven wickets. Batting first after losing the toss, India set a target of 307 runs in front of New Zealand. In response, the Kiwi team achieved the target with seven wickets in hand with the help of a 221-run partnership between skipper Kane Williamson and Tom Latham.

With this victory, New Zealand took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The first game was being played at Eden Park Auckland. Stand in captain Shikhar Dhawan lost the toss when Kane Williamson invited Men in Blue to bat first. India gave a good defending total of 307 runs for black caps to chase.

But New Zealand’s number three and four batsman came to win it all. New Zealand was struggling at 48 for 3 when Kiwi captain came to bat in. Giving the much needed stability to the New Zealand innings, he took the score board forward. Tom Latham was in a fabulous form scored another century in One Day Internationals.

200-run partnership between Tom Latham and Kane Williamson made the match one-sided. Kiwi team scored 309 runs losing three wickets in 47.1 overs and easily achieved the target. Kane Williamson and Tom Latham batted brilliantly for New Zealand.

Umran Malik and Arshdeep marked the ODI debut with this game and also took one one wicket each. But the Indian skipper and pacer Shardul Thakur could not help their team in the first ODI game. Now both the team will play the second match on Sunday.
