Coming to bat first, India’s number three batsman Suryakumar Yadav did a fabulous job. That too, when India was not in a great place when he came to bat. Batting first after losing the toss, India’s start was nothing special. India’s first wicket fell on the score of 36 runs, when Rishabh Pant was dismissed after scoring six runs in 13 balls. After this, Ishaan Kishan took India’s score past 50 by scoring some fast runs, but he too got out after scoring 36 runs in 31 balls.

But at one end, Suryakumar Yadav took charge and scored runs at a brisk pace, but wickets kept falling at the other end. Shreyas Iyer gave away his place with a hit wicket after scoring 13 runs in 9 balls.

At the same time, Captain Hardik scored 13 runs in 13 balls. Deepak Hooda and Washington Sundar could not even open their accounts and gave away an easy hat-trick to Tim Southee. In the end, Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten after scoring 111 runs in 51 balls. This includes 11 fours and 7 sixes.

In fact, due to his century, India scored 191 runs losing six wickets and set a target of 192 runs in front of New Zealand. For the unversed, this is SKY’s second T20I century. He had scored his first against T20 hundred against England in July 2022. He had scored his highest of 117 runs in 48 balls.
