Doha-bound IndiGo flight makes emergency landing at Karachi airport after passenger death
A Doha-bound IndiGo flight made an emergency landing at Pakistan’s Karachi airport due to a medical emergency. Initial reports say that a Nigerian passenger aboard the flight felt unwell prompting the aircraft to make an emergency landing. However, the passenger was declared dead on arrival on landing.
According to reports, Delhi-Doha Indigo Airline flight 6E-1736, was forced to make an emergency landing at the neighbouring country’s airport after a passenger onboard—reportedly a Nigerian citizen—felt unwell and required urgent medical attention.
They said that the passenger was attended by doctors upon landing at the Karachi airport who declared him dead on arrival. The name of the deceased passenger is not yet known.
Reports quoting a statement by the Airline said that the captain of the IndiGo flight contacted the Karachi Air Traffic Control, informed them of the medical emergency, and was granted permission to land at the airport.
We are deeply saddened by the news and our prayers and wishes are with his family and loved ones, the statement from IndiGo said.
According to a spokesman of Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson in Karachi, health condition of a passenger onboard an IndiGo flight, which departed for Doha from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, worsened mid-flight, prompting the aircraft to request an emergency landing from the Air Traffic Controller at the Karachi Airport in Pakistan.

In a similar incident, an IndiGo flight traveling from Cochin to Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing at the Bhopal airport in February last month. As per reports, the flight was diverted to the Bhopal airport owing to a medical emergency on board
In a statement at the time by the Bhopal Airport it said that IndiGo flight 6E 2407 traveling from Cochin to Delhi was diverted to Bhopal owing to a medical emergency on board. The statement also apologized to the passengers for the inconvenience caused to other passengers.
It was reported that after the flight landed at the Bhopal airport, the airport team took prompt action and in time got the ailing passenger off and shifted him to the nearest hospital.
