IPL 2022: After tweeple called KL Rahul selfish, Ravi Shastri questions his approach in RCB vs LSG match
Lucknow Super Giants’ skipper KL Rahul has been getting flakes over his non-intended innings during the RCB vs LSG match. The eliminator match was a do-or-die for both the teams and came to bat first, RCB put forth a huge mountain of score for LSG to chase.
With the help of Rajat Patidar’s 112 of 54 balls, RCB made 206 runs and despite having a good star LSG could not keep up the momentum and lost the eliminator with 14 runs.
However, the fact that kept pinching tweeple was skipper KL Rahul’s approach towards the match. Even after spending adequate amount of time at the crease, Rahul could not convert his half century into something big. The Lucknow Super Giants opener made 75 of 58 balls and got out in the 19th over.
Cricket fans and critiques could not come to terms with the fact that somebody who almost stood at the crease for an entire innings, could not lead his team to the semi-finals. Tweeple called KL Rahul selfish and also blamed him for the eliminator loss.
And now talking about the same, former head coach Ravi Shastri also said that KL Rahul should have taken the risk and scored faster in the middle overs. Shastri believes that Rahul and Deepak Hooda’s partnership should have led the team towards a win. But unfortunately, KL was not able to target any batsman.
“Rahul could have taken a little more chance there because Hooda was doing so. Take a little more chance, and he could have targeted someone between the ninth and the 13th over,” Ravi Shastri said. Even former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar agreed that KL Rahul should have batted faster.
Now that LSG is out of the race, today Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals will take down each other in Qualifier 2 to enter the finals. Which ever team wins will play against Gujarat Titans in IPL 20222 finals.
