The trailer of Jogi, a Diljit Dosanjh starrer, dropped on Tuesday as many came in support of the much-anticipated film.

The 2.12-minute trailer starts the film on a light note but as things escalate the trailer grows from bright to a sinister turn of events. However, the trailer has already been on the receiving end of a lot of love and praise by the fans, as many called singer Diljit Dosanjh to be very courageous for doing a project like this.

Jogi is set in the backdrop of the anti-Sikh riots that unfolded during the year of 1980s after Indira Gandhi’s assassination. In the trailer, a Sikh family who is leading a happy life in the national capital of India is subjected to an overnight turn as the anti-Sikh riots plague the city. Diljit Dosanjh along with his 2 friends is on a tedious and horrific three-day journey of finding a safe haven for the people who are being targeted in the riots.

Ahead of its release, Jogi has already been receiving a lot of love and adoration from the fans as the tweeple came out in support. One Twitter user expressed his sentiments about the film by replying to Diljit Dosanjh’s trailer release tweet as the user wrote that it is going to be a spine Chilling film and predicted that this will be Dosanjh’s best performance yet.

Another Twitter user echoed the sentiments as they congratulated the Punjabi singer for his courage in taking up a project like this and also gave their blessings to Dosanjh for his upcoming project.

The 1984 Sikh pogrom escalated after the assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. After the pogrom, the Government estimated a figure of 2,800 Sikhs, who were killed in the national capital, whereas, independent sources estimate the number of deaths to be around 8,000.

Jogi is directed by renowned director Ali Abbas Zaffar and casts Kumud Mishra, Amyra Dastur, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Hiten Tejwani, and Paresh Pahuja among others. The film is set to stream on the OTT platform, Netflix, on the 13th of September.
