Kangana Ranaut turns fashion police over women wearing shorts at Himachal temple
Actor Kangana Ranaut is again in the limelight, but this time she has turned fashion police against women who wear shorts and T-shirts to visit temples.
She shared a tweet where two women in shorts and T-shirts can be seen at the famous Baijnath Shiv Temple in Himachal Pradesh. She tweeted that these are Western clothes, invented and promoted by white people. She recounted her own experience that once when she had been denied entry to the Vatican because she was wearing T-shirts and shorts. She had to return to her hotel and change. She further added that women who wear night dresses like casuals are nothing but lame and lazy, and strict rules should be there for such foolish women.
The reactions to the tweet have been varied.
A user said women wearing shorts and t shirts should not be allowed entry into temples. Another noted that Kangana Ranaut herself promoted such clothing in her films, but when people copy her, then she seemed to have a problem. He said this was plain hypocrisy on her part.
Women should learn to dress for the occasion, another user said. One should be properly dressed when going to the temple and should have pure thoughts in mind and soul, another said. Another user commented the Ranaut tweet would hurt the sentiments of feminist groups.
Another user said he thought that he did not think that they had gone there to pray. Another user said that it was the girl’s choice to wear whatever she wanted as it was her life. Another commented that one should dress well while visiting religious places.
Another person said every place has a dress code and it should be followed. Another person said that the two women might have been tourists as Himachal Pradesh is a tourist destination and were not on pilgrimage, hence an issue should not be made of the above matter. Another person said there was no difference between Kangana Ranaut and the two women. Another user said Bollywood celebrities should not be taken too seriously.
