Kanpur woman commits suicide by hanging herself from fan, husband films

A shocking video of a woman committing suicide by hanging from a fan in front of her husband is going viral on social media. The video was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur.

The police reached the spot immediately after they received information about the incident and sent the man into custody. The police also took the body into possession and sent it for a post-mortem.

According to the reports, Shobhita, a resident of Kidwai Nagar, married Sanjeev Gupta, a resident of the Gulmohar area, four years ago. Shobhita kept trying to hang herself after failing in the first attempt while Sanjeev continued filming the incident instead of saving her.

Sanjeev then called Shobhita’s parents and informed them about her suicide. Shobhita’s family members reached her house and saw her body lying on the bed. Shobhita’s father, Rajkishore, immediately informed the police.

Rajkishore told the police that he himself took his daughter to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On asking why Shobhita hanged herself, Sanjeev showed them the video and said she tried to hang herself before but he saved her. In the video, he can be heard saying, this is what you can do.

Everyone was shocked after seeing the video that instead of saving Shobhita, he was letting her commit suicide. Police have taken Sanjeev into custody. It is reported that there was a dispute between the husband and wife for a long time.

ACP Anup Singh said the entire incident is being probed along with the video. He said the matter will be further investigated after the post-mortem.
