A school teacher in Karnataka who had questioned Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Bhagwanth Khuba on the supply of fertilizers was suspended by the Education Department on Sunday. The action was taken against the teacher after the alleged video clip of their conversation went viral.
In the clip, Kushal Patil, an assistant teacher at Jeerga (K) village in the Bidar District of Karnataka, can be heard daring the minister to win the next election after Khuba angrily tells Patil to approach local officers as he can’t do anything about it.
Patil, who is said to be the son of a farmer, questioned the minister about the unavailability of fertilizers. To which the minister said that he had already sent the fertilizer to the states, but the conversation heated up and Patil said that the politician would not be elected again from the Bidar constituency.
As the audio clip went viral, an investigation was started, and the local block education officer provided a preliminary report. The Deputy Director of Public Instruction issued the suspension orders based on these allegations of negligence, irresponsibility, and misconduct by intentionally recording the telephonic conversation and making it viral on social media platforms.
Patil who hails from an agricultural family said that they had difficulty obtaining fertilizers in the past few seasons. He continued by saying that since the people had chosen Bhagwanth Khuba as their leader, they had the right to speak to him and express their concerns.
When Khuba was asked the reason for not supplying fertilizers, he said he is the minister under the Government of India and takes care of the states. For these matters, he asked Patil to go to MLA and officers.
