A couple was found dead in their house at Cherai, near Vyapeen Island in Kerala’s Ernakulam district on Tuesday. The case has been registered with Munambam Police. The police have identified their death as a suspected case of suicide.
According to the reports, the deceased, identified as Radhakrishnan and his wife Anitha, used to live near the Bakery Bus Stop in Cherai.
During the investigation, it was found that their daughter ran away from home and got married despite objections from the family. The relatives of the deceased couple alleged that this was the reason for their suicide.
Reportedly, there were regular fights between the couple and their daughter. The couple was against their daughter’s love marriage. So the woman fled home and decided to marry a man chosen by her.
The relatives of the deceased said the couple couldn’t be able to handle this and hence they decided to take this step.
Munamban Police has initiated a probe into this matter.
Earlier, two girls fled their homes to marry each other in Mumbai. The family lodged a complaint under the Bidupur Police Station area in Vaishali district and they were caught at Hajipur Railway Station.
During interrogation, the girls said they had been in a relationship for the past two years but their family was strongly against it due to social stigma. The police said the elder girl was posing as a boy with a short hairstyle.
SHO said the girls were living in a hotel. He further said that the elder girl had fled to Mumbai with Rs 45,000 but they decided to return home when they left with only Rs 3,000.
