Kullu accident: 7 killed, 10 injured after tourist vehicle falls into gorge
At least seven people were killed and 10 others were injured after a tempo traveller fell into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu on Sunday. The accident occurred on NH-305 in the Ghiyagi area of Banjar valley at around 8:30 pm.
The Superintendent of Police, Gurdev Singh, stated that five injured have been shifted to the Zonal Hospital in Kullu and the other five are under treatment at a hospital in Banjar. A total of 17 people were travelling in the vehicle, including the driver. The victims were residents of various states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi.
Surender Shourie, a BJP MLA from Banjar informed the people about the accident through Facebook Live at around 12:45 am. He said the injured were initially taken to Banjar hospital from where they were referred to Kullu hospital after being given first aid.
BJP MLA even thanked the locals and district administration for rescuing people despite the darkness.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the kin of the deceased. He tweeted The incident of a tourist vehicle falling into a ditch in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh is very sad. I express my deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their loved ones in this accident. Along with this, all possible help is being provided to the injured. I wish him a speedy recovery.
Another similar mishap took place in Kullu last month when one person was killed and three others were injured after boulders hit a moving car following a landslide.
