Lemon prices overtake petrol as rates cross Rs 200 per kg in Gujarat
The price of lemons is giving a sour taste to people in Gujarat as the price has surged above Rs 200. Due to the shortage of supply and rise in the demand for citrus fruits, the price has surged in Gujarat’s Rajkot.
Currently, lemons are being sold at Rs 200 per kg. Notably, earlier, the price of lemons in Rajkot was Rs 50-60 per kg.
A customer told news agency ANI that the price of lemon is touching Rs 200 per kg. Earlier, it was around Rs 50-60 per kg. The customer also said that they have to fit everything into a budget. But this increase in price is affecting the kitchen budget, The customer further said that they don’t know when will the price go down.
A buyer, Himanshu said that prices of almost every vegetable have increased but this is more than they had expected, He further said that it is difficult for a middle-class customer to buy such expensive vegetables. He said that they are unable to buy lemons in a large quantity like they used to buy earlier. This increase is almost double the prices they were paying last year in the month of March, don’t know what will happen in April-May.
The price of petrol and diesel has also been increased and today, it has increased by 80 paise. Currently, in Delhi, the price of petrol is worth Rs 102.61 per litre.
