Spiking lemon prices trigger memes of nimbu-mirchi and days without salad
When it comes to summer and scorching heat, lemon is something that is being used mostly all around the world. But what if you have to buy a lemon for Rs 30. Yes, you heard it right !!! On Wednesday, the lemon price went higher to Rs 400 per kg.
In Jaipur, the rate of lemon was Rs 340 per kg on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, and later it was increased by Rs 60 in just a day, on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.
Although, we know that lemon is commonly used in every household, on roads by vendors, restaurants, etc for making just a simple cold drink. The increase in the rate of lemon is giving nightmares to every middle-class family who uses lemon commonly in their homes for making drinks at times when the temperature rises to 40 degrees Celcius.
On Twitter, people are making memes about the high rates of lemons, expressing their anger at the government for this reason. Twitter is flooded with lemons (Nimbu) memes right now with the #Nimbu.
One of the Tweeple wrote that he believes in the supremacy of Nimbu (lemon) instead of Roof Afza while observing fast.

Ramadan is going on and people are observing fast. Lemon is being widely used at the time of Iftar, for opening fast in the initial phase of Azan (prayer) after dates. But, the increasing rates of lemon, left the people in shock, especially Muslims.
Another Tweeple posted a picture of Nimbu (lemon) where she wrote ‘ Ye lo ab, jale pe nimbu aur namak ke maze lo’. People are expressing their anger at the government for the increasing rates of Petrol and diesel prices, and now the Nimbu too.
