Madhya Pradesh: Church torched, vandalised in Narmadapuram, case filed

A story has come to light from Madhya Pradesh’s Narmadapuram district where a mob reportedly entered a church, vandalised and then torched it. As per the reports, the locals who reached the place of worship to offer prayer, found burnt furniture, blackened walls due to smoke, as well as walls inscribed with Lord Ram name inside the torched church.

The church is reportedly located in Chauki Pura Village in Sukhtawa block, which is considered to be a tribal area of the district. The church was built five years ago, suggest report.

The initial probe done by the police suggest that the mob entered the Church by removing the window net of the Church building and then the mob burnt the church from the inside. It was also reported that several religious items including texts, furniture as well idols were also burnt due to the arson attack.

After learning about the incident, the police also took cognizance of the matter and registered a case under charges of 295 of the Indian Penal Code.

The unidentified people who vandalised have not been arrested yet, however, the police authorities have set up a team and are still investigating the case further in case of tracing the accused further.

The police, while being asked about communal tensions erupting due to the incident, have said that there are no tensions in the Chaukipura area following the incident.

Another incident

Another incident of mob violence came to light from from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore where the right wing mob brutally beat up Muslim men for reportedly celebrating a birthday with their Hindu friend. According to reports, the mob attacked and assaulted the man in suspicion of Love Jihad.

It was reported the mob barged into the house of the woman who was celebrating her birthday after which they went on to beat up the Muslim men who were attending the party. The men took the Muslim men and the woman to the police station and forced her to file a complaint.

The woman, despite of being forced by the right wing mob, denied filing a complaint against her Muslim friends.
