Viral: Dalits stopped from celebrating Navratri in Madhya Pradesh, fight breaks out between communities | Watch
A video from Madhya Pradesh’s Agar Malwa district has emerged where clashes broke out between Villagers and Dalits of the village. According to reports, the Dalits of the village were celebrating the Navratri by performing Garba and placing the idol of goddess Durga in the temple which the villagers objected and the objection escalated into a brawl.
In the video, the two communities can be seen brawling and clashing as many people can be seen with sticks in hand attacking and hitting each other with it. The incident transpired right outside of the temple of the village and saw almost all people, including women of the communities partaking in the clash. The video has been making rounds on the internet as many people have come forward reflecting upon the casteist practices that are still instilled into the minds of the people of India.
One user came forward and reflected upon the irony of following a religion and wrote that what an irony it is that even the worship of god has been segregated based on caste and religion. Whereas another user trenchantly remarked and asked when will the people of the Dalit community understand that they are only Hindus when the establishment benefits from it.

The user further added that they are only Hindus when it comes to voting but they can’t enjoy any luxury of an upper caste Hindu, even things like growing out a mustache or visiting a temple, or even riding a horse is something these people can’t do due to the discriminatory caste system, implying at the status-quo of Dalit’s in many parts of the country and highlighting the caste-based crimes carried out against the people from Dalit community and also the political leaders neglect to remedy the status-quo.
Another incident of a similar nature was reported back in July from Madhya Pradesh’s Shajapur District where a Dalit girl was asked about her audacity to attend school. The family of the 16-year-old Dalit girl was beaten up by some upper caste group after they protested the precedent being imposed by the casteist men of the village. The accused had allegedly stopped the girl, who was on her way back home from school, and asked her how dare she attends the school when no girl from the village is allowed to do so, reports said.
