A bizarre video has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh where a man was arrested by the police for offering alcoholic beverages to devotees. The man has been identified as Yogesh and was arrested by Allighar Police.

In the video, a man with cartons of beer can be seen offering and handing over the beers to the devotees during their Kanwar Yatra. The man can be seen pleading with the devotees to take him up on his offer, as well as, falling on the devotee’s feet in a bid for them to take the alcoholic beverage.

Some devotees in the videos can be modestly thanking him and passing up on the alcohol, whereas, a few others can be seen happily taking the beer from him. The man can also be seen as Lorde Shiva’s name to back his actions.

Police’s action

After the video of the incident surfaced on the internet, the police took prompt action and took the man into custody. The man, identified as Yogesh, has been charged under section 60(1) of the excise act. The man has been taken into custody at Quarsi police station of Aligarh.

Twitter reactions

After the video went viral, many users came forward to add their take on the incident as one user wrote and said that why did the authority only take action against the man who offered beer and added that the devotees who accepted his offer should also face consequences. The user further questioned that who consumes liquor while they are on their way to offer prayers.

One man amusingly wrote that the people of Kolkata need this man and added that he hopes that god blesses him, implying that they wish they could get free beer.

One user also wrote and wrote that the man had good intentions, implying that the man offering beer was his way of giving back to the community as well as supporting the devotees.
