Mangaluru: Bajrang Dal workers try to attack youth and his girlfriend, detained

Bajrang Dal workers have been accused of assaulting a youth and his girlfriend in Mangaluru on Saturday night. According to the police, right-wing activists tried to attack a couple belonging to different communities, who were roaming near Kotara outpost.

On Saturday midnight, this girl met a youth from another community, after which, the workers started creating ruckus. The couple told that they had gone out for dinner at a hotel in the city and were returning back to their respective homes. But the workers interrogated the boy and tried to assault him.

Meanwhile, Urwa police personnel reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Some Bajrang Dal activists were taken into custody by the police but were later released. The couple also left after telling the whole thing to the police. At the same time, there have been three incidents of fighting during the last one week near the same check-post.
