Manipur Assembly Elections 2022: N Biren Singh, Okram Ibobi Singh, key candidates here
Manipur Assembly Elections 2022 were conducted in two phases on February 28 and March 5 to elect 60 members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly. The counting of votes will commence today from 8 am.
As per the Zee News exit poll, BJP is likely to come into power yet again with 33 seats out of 37 in the Assembly elections. On the other hand, Congress will win 12 to 17 seats. A total of 8.38 lakh people cast their votes in Manipur.
This year, the Bharatiya Janta Party fielded 22 candidates, Congress put forth 18, National People’s Party contested for 11 seats, the Janata Dal (United) and Naga People’s Front fielded 10 candidates each.
Congress made an alliance with CPI, CPI (M), RSP, JD(S), and Forward Block for Manipur Assembly Elections 2022. In total 10 leaders quit Congress this year and joined BJP. Manipuris will witness the tough competition between BJP and Congress as the former Congress chief Govindas Konthoujam Singh joined BJP.
