Did the makers of Marvel: Shang-chi copy THIS scene from Ranveer Singh starrer Bajirao Mastani?
Copying or taking inspiration, who decides? Apparently, the biggest production house in the world is held culprit for copying an entire scene from a Bollywood film. Marvel Cinematic Universe released its next generation movie Shang-chi, Marvel’s first movie with a Chinese-American superhero released in 2021. The movie did not only earn $400 million worldwide but was also praised by the viewers.
But seems like for the first time Marvel copied something, that too from a Bollywood film. Apparently, the makers of Shang-Chi blatantly copied an entire fighting scene from Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer Bajirao Mastani. Not only the frame work but the actions were also an exact copy in Shang-Chi.
The comparison video went viral in no time and witnessing that the internet claims that Marvel film Shang-Chi, The Legend of The Ten Rings probably copied a scene from Bajirao Mastani. The viral video posted below is taken from Reddit, which shows frame by frame comparison of both the scenes from Shang-Chi and Bajirao Mastani, respectively.
Since the video was posted on Reddit today, the content has received more than 1200 votes and 136 comments. A user wrote, “This is a blatant copy but no one would have issues since it’s Hollywood taking it from Bollywood (sic),” another user expressed that by copying this scene, Hollywood took revenge for all the scenes Bollywood has copied from them. One more user wrote, “Recently found this! the scene from Shang Chi is an exact replica of Bajirao Mastani? Any thoughts (sic).”
Bajirao Mastani released in 2015, while Shang-Chi released in 2021. The Bollywood film was directed by the ace director of Bollywood, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie had Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. Being one of the most expensive films in India, it did not only earn more than 350 crore at the box office, but also bagged 11 Filmfare awards and three national awards.
