Mulayam Singh Yadav Funeral: Akhilesh Yadav performs last rites, Netaji cremated with state honors

SP Patron Mulayam Singh Yadav was cremated today in his native village of Uttar Pradesh’s Saifai. He died on Monday morning at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after being ill for a long time. After Netaji’s death, 3 days of state mourning has been declared in UP.

Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav was cremated with state honors in his native village of Saifai. It was his eldest son and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who gave mukhagni and performed the last rites of his father.

Congress Presidential candidate Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari and other party leaders also reached the native village Saifai to attend the last rites of former UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also attended the last rites of Samajwadi Party (SP) patron and former Uttar Pradesh CM Mulayam Singh Yadav in Saifai, Etawah along with Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan and his mother and MP Jaya Bachchan.

During the last rites, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Varun Gandhi also paid tribute to Mulayam Singh Yadav. He was also seen hugging Akhilesh Yadav and crying over his shoulder. Sharad Pawar and Anil Ambani also attended the funeral.

Reports suggest that SP workers reached Saifai with sandalwood sticks from Kannauj. It is being told that a large number of his supporters and SP workers have attend Netaji’s funeral. Keeping in mind the security arrangements, a large number of police forces were also deployed in Saifai.

For the unversed, Mulayam Singh Yadav was the founder-patron of the Samajwadi Party and served Uttar Pradesh as the Chief Minister for three non-consecutive terms. He was also appointed as the Union Defence Minister thrice.

The deceased leader was appointed as the MLA of the Legislative Assembly 10 times and held the position of Lok Sabha MP 7 times.
