Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid his tributes to Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, who passed away on Monday morning at Gururam’s Medanta Hospital. He wrote on Twitter that he was a key soldier for the Indian democracy during the emergency. As a Defence Minister, he worked for a stronger India.
PM Modi also shared some memories of his interaction with the veteran SP leader. He said that when they served as Chief Ministers of their respective states. The close association continued and he always looked forward to hearing his views.
He said that his Parliamentary interventions were insightful and emphasised on furthering national interest. He was a remarkable personality.
Narendra Modi further wrote that he was widely admired as a humble and grounded leader who was sensitive to people’s problems. He served people diligently and devoted his life towards popularising the ideals of Loknayak JP and Dr Lohia.
The President of India, Draupadi Murmu, has also paid her tributes to the SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. She wrote on Twitter that the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav was an irreparable loss to the country. The achievements of Mulayam Singh Yadav, who came from an ordinary environment, were extraordinary. ‘Dharti Putra’ Mulayam was a veteran leader associated with the common man. He was respected by people of all parties. She also expressed her deepest condolences to his family members and supporters!
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced three-day state mourning on the demise of veteran Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed that his last rites would be performed with full state honours.
Yogi Adityanath said that the demise of the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav was extremely sad. His death marked the end of a major pillar of socialism and a struggling era.
