Mumbai local train's 3 coaches derail at Kharkopar station, services hit
Three coaches of the local Mumbai train travelling from Belapur to Kharkopar got derailed while entering Kharkopar Railway Station. The incident occurred at around 8:46 am on the Central Railways. As of now, no casualties or injuries have been reported.
Soon after the incident, the relief teams arrived at the derailment site for restoration. Senior officials also rushed to the spot.
Railway services have also been hit due to the derailment. According to the reports, the Belapur-Kharkopar-Nerul line will be impacted, and the trains travelling on this line will be out of service temporarily.
As per the preliminary investigation, the derailment incident occurred a few meters away from the Kharkopar station. Also, one side of the track has also been uprooted due to the incident.
Central Railway’s chief public relations officer, Shivaji Sutar, tweeted about the incident and also said Harbour Line trains are running as per the schedule. The cause of the derailment is not yet clear.
On Thursday, three coaches of the Howrah-Amta local train derailed near the Maju railway station. According to the locals, two passengers were seriously injured in the incident.
