A spine-chilling story has come to light from Hyderabad’s Medak where a Muslim man, who was picked up by the Medak police under suspicion of stealing, succumbed to his injuries in a hospital after reportedly suffering from injuries in the Police station. According to reports, the man was tortured in custody by the police authorities.

The wife of the 35-year-old man told the media that her husband was picked up from his sister’s house in Hyderabad on January 27. She has also alleged that the police beat up and tortured her husband Mohammad Qadeer.

Video of the man’s account of the torture was also shared by the victim as he can be seen in the video that the police brutally used sticks to beat up the man as they hit him on different parts of his body. The victim can also be seen telling that after five days of going through the grilling and the torture by the police, they let him go on January 2.

Qadeer was in police custody for 5 days and it was also reported that the police while releasing him, had threatened him to keep his mouth shut about his detention as well as torture.

After coming out of jail Qadeer reportedly suffered several injuries including several fractures, dislocated spine, and renal failure due to the torture by the police. The doctor had advised Qadeer to check into the hospital after learning about his situation.

Qadeer, the condition deteriorated despite getting treated at the Gandhi Hospital as he succumbed to his injuries on the morning of February 17. Mohammad Qadeer was a daily wage worker and was picked up by Medak police on charges of stealing gold ornaments, according to reports. He was survived by his wife and two children.

After learning about Qadeer’s death, the elders in his village brought the issue to the attention of Medak MLA M Padma Devender Reddy to take cognizance of the matter and reprimand those responsible for the death of Qadeer.

Shortly after learning about the incident, the Medak MLA talked to Superintendent of Police Rohini Priyadarshini and demanded a probe into the matter.

Following the demand, the Medak SP transferred the three cops including a Sub-Inspector and two constables on Friday.

The Medak Polie Superintendent had also told the media that they haven’t received any complaint from the relatives of the deceased and will begin probing as soon as they receive the complaint.
