Indian-American Neal Mohan to be YouTube CEO after Susan Wojcicki steps down
Indian-American Neal Mohan has become the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YouTube after Susan Wojcicki stepped down from her role as the CEO of the Google-owned video-sharing platform. The 54-year-old Wojcicki will head to Google as an advisor.
Neal Mohan has been with YouTube for 8 years. He earlier served as the Chief Product Officer (CPO), who was responsible for user experience and global trust and safety measures.
She joined Alphabet Inc., the firm’s parent corporation, about 25 years ago and was one of Google’s earliest employees. She was previously a senior vice president for ad products at Google and became CEO of YouTube in 2014. She said she will focus on family, health, and personal projects she’s passionate about.

In an email to employees, Wojcicki said Today, after nearly 25 years here, she has decided to step back from her role as the head of YouTube and start a new chapter focused on her family, health, and personal projects she’s passionate about. She also thanked Sundar Pichai for his constant support. Going forward, Wojcicki will be taking an advisory role across Google and Alphabet on Pichai’s suggestion.
She further said when she joined YouTube nine years ago, one of her first priorities was bringing in an incredible leadership team. Neal Mohan was one of those leaders, and he’ll be the SVP and new head of YouTube, she wrote in an email.
Neal became YouTube’s Chief Product Officer in 2015. Since then, he has set up a top-notch product and UX team, played pivotal roles in the launch of some of our biggest products, including YouTube TV, YouTube Music and Premium and Shorts, and has led our Trust and Safety team, ensuring that YouTube lives up to its responsibility as a global platform. she continued. Mohan is also a Google veteran, having joined the company through its acquisition of DoubleClick in 2008. At Google, Mohan led the video advertising and display business. He was also in charge of its advertising product offerings on YouTube, the Google Display Network, AdMob, and AdSense.
