Google-backed company Nothing to start manufacturing smartphones in India, here's why
Google-backed technology company Nothing phone on Monday confirmed that it will now manufacture all its smartphones locally in India. While confirming the news, the company’s vice president in India and general manager Manu Sharma said to meet the domestic demand, the firm decided to manufacture the smartphones in India. However, the phone battery will be imported from China.
Sharma said, Nothing phone (1) is the real star of the company’s journey and they can not think of a better plan and way to set up their business in India, which is known as one of the biggest smartphone markets in the world, Sharma added.
A senior official from the company told the media that the firm already started its plan and confirmed that phones have started being manufactured in Tamil Nadu. In order to provide technical support for their upcoming Nothing phone (1), the company also decided to expand its customer support in the region by opening over 270 authorised service centres in more than 250 cities.
Meanwhile, the firm, which has been selling audio devices ear (1) in India, is all set to launch its much-awaited smartphone with the name Nothing Phone 1. The handset will be launched on July 12 through the virtual event called Return to Instinct. It will start from at 8.30pm IST.

Reports said the smartphone will launch with the latest and updated processor, which will allow users to have a smooth and lag-free experience while operating any heavy applications. The phone is also likely to come with support for 45W fast charging, which will provide a long battery life to the device.
