Madhya Pradesh: Man slaps assistant panchayat secretary in PM Awas corruption case in Chalni
A middle-aged man slapped an assistant panchayat secretary for alleged corruption in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin at Chalni village of Sardarpur tehsil in Dhar district. The incident occurred at a camp under Mukha Mantri Jan Seva Abhiyan in the village.
A video of this incident went viral on social media on Friday where a man can be seen slapping assistant secretary Rajesh alias Ramsingh Bhuria during a meeting.
According to the local media reports, the assistant secretary demanded a bribe of Rs five thousand from the accused Mangilal Jawaria under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin. The village sarpanch, deputy sarpanch and secretary were also present during the incident. Janpad Panchayat CEO Shailendra Sharma also reached the camp after this incident.
Shailendra Sharma said that a complaint of corruption in PM Awas Yojana has been received from the villagers. The villagers accused that the assistant secretary was taking bribes in the scheme. It has been forwarded to the regional panchayat coordinator for further investigation.
However, SDM Rahul Chauhan said that the Janpad Panchayat CEO should investigate the matter and submit the report to him. The CEO has been directed for the same.
Sharing this incident on Twitter, a user wrote that when the panchayat secretary did not put the names of some villagers in the list of PM Awas even after giving the alleged bribe and did not give a proper answer when asked, a desperate villager slapped the general secretary. The incident occurred at Chalni village of Sardarpur tehsil in Dhar district.

The PM Awas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) has been devised in line with the central government’s commitment to provide ‘Housing for All’ by 2022 in the rural areas. The scheme aims at providing a pucca house with basic amenities to all houseless householders living in kutcha and dilapidated houses by 2022.
