Payal Rohatgi duped of Rs 20,000 in online scam, slams Cyber Cell
Actor Payal Rohatgi was recently a victim of online fraud, and now she has slammed the cyber cell for not responding to her complaints. A former Bigg Boss contestant, who has been duped of Rs 20,000, is dissatisfied with the Cyber Cell after they failed to address her complaint.
Rohatgi said she fell for a scam after she ordered some clothes online. She said when the product was delivered, it became clear that there was some issue with the size, following which she applied to return. Furthermore, she said the company sent someone to handle the return process.
She further stated that around 15 to 20 days later, she got a call from that company, saying that they hadn’t gotten the product. She then looked for the customer care number on Google and called them to inquire about the status.
Rohatgi said she spoke to an executive and did a live chat. She was told that the product was on hold as she had not filled out some form. She added that the executive then asked her to pay Rs 10 for courier registration by clicking on a link shared by them. According to Rohatgi, when she offered to pay via PayTM or Google Pay, the executive refused and forced her to pay only by card. She then received the OTP on her phone, and when she shared it, Rs 20,238 was deducted from her account.
Following the incident, she contacted the cyber crime cell but did not succeed. Payal Rohatgi said all the customer care numbers available on Google are a total waste as they are not working. The actor was then forced to file the complaint via the website.
