The petrol and diesel prices have yet again hiked by 80 paise in Delhi on Sunday. The petrol in Delhi will now be available at Rs 103.41 per litre and the diesel will now cost Rs Rs 94.67 per litre. This is the 11th increase in fuel prices in 13 days, taking the total hike in petrol rates by Rs 8.

In Mumbai, the prices of petrol have increased by 84 paise and diesel prices are up by 85 paise. With the latest hike in fuel rates in Mumbai, the price of petrol now stands at Rs 118.41 per litre and the price of diesel now costs Rs 102.64 per litre. The highest petrol prices were witnessed in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district at Rs 120.54 per litre.

Notably, this is the 11th increase in prices since the ending of the four-month-long hiatus that started in November but it ended on March 22, and since then, the price of fuel rates has been surging with each passing day.

Following the results of Assembly Elections on March 10 in five major states, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, petrol and diesel prices have jumped in India and it is likely to rise by Rs 15-20 in the upcoming days.

Since November 4 last year, the fuel prices were frozen and the Centre slashed the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 to provide some comfort to the common man.
